Hello all, this is a website designed to discuss the evolution of Frankenstein's Creature. Something which over the course
of stage presentations, art work, and film has become a massively popular and yet misunderstood image. I will be posting several
photos and linking to several sites to illustrate the evolution the character has taken from a complex and multi-layered being
in the original text to the commercial image that has so intwined itself in the national culture today. Everyone from small
child to an adult can recognize the name Frankenstein, the issue here is that the image they concoct or bring to being in
their minds is rarely the one originally intended. That being said, I hope anyone who views the site will enjoy the material
and find some original thought in it.

Our Mission
The purpose here is to get to the root of the way that the image of Frankenstein's Creature has changed over the years
and how it in itself has become the actual meaning behind the word Frankenstein. Even those who know that the Creature itself
was not named Frankenstein, it very intentionally had no name. In popular culture though it has become itself the meaning
behind the word Frankenstein. The most widely recognized image is of course the Boris Karloff 1931 film version entitled simply
Frankenstein.Numurous film versions through the fifties, sixties, and seventies have been made most went with the green skin
and horrific monster angle, making Frankenstein's creature simply, a monster.Newer versions including Mary Shelley's Frankenstein
have attempted to get closer to the original description of the monster but even those overlook certain aspects of his description.
The newest version a 2004 Hallmark channel TV movie once again attempted to derive a clearer and closer image of The Creature
but this failed to satisfy the majority of viewers. It remains to be seen if Mary Shelley's true image of The Creature will
ever be satisfied.
